Introduction
Located in Huangpu District, Shanghai, Yu Garden is an ancient garden built during the Ming Dynasty, boasting a history of more than 400 years.
In the Ming Dynasty, a Shanghai native named Pan Yunduan, who served as the Governor of Sichuan Province, decided to build a garden for his father’s retirement. Beginning in 1559, it took over 20 years to complete this garden, which covers more than 70 acres and was named “Yuyuan(豫园)”, symbolizing peace and happiness.
Yu Garden is renowned for its typical Jiangnan-style landscaping, characterized by tranquil beauty and intricate design. It is home to numerous ancient trees and rare plants, along with precious cultural relics such as Ming and Qing Dynasty furniture, calligraphy, paintings, clay sculptures, brick carvings, and inscribed couplets. As a fusion of history and art, Yu Garden stands as a cultural treasure.

At the base of the rockery, the clear lake mirrors the surroundings, creating a harmonious blend of mountain and water that feels like a paradise, leaving visitors enchanted.
Dianchun Hall(点春堂)
Dianchun Hall is steeped in history, once serving as the headquarters of the Small Swords Society(小刀会) uprising in Shanghai. Standing within the hall, one can almost hear echoes of the past, recounting the stirring events of history.
Jade Rock(玉玲珑)
Jade Rock, standing approximately three meters tall, is celebrated as one of the three most famous rocks in Jiangnan.
